In 2006, I was an aspiring song-writer who dreamed of writing and performing my own songs some day. When I learnt that FM Pop Music School was conducting its first ever Melody Composing Course taught by two leading song-writers (and now my mentors) Eric Ng and Jim Lim, I signed up immediately.

There were no lengthy lectures laden with technical terms. Rather, Eric and Jim taught us song-writing techniques and knowledge important for any song-writer in a fun and interactive manner that was easy to understand and apply. Being surrounded by people who share the same passion makes learning all the more fun.

Gradually, we gained confidence as song-writers. The course shaped me to become the song-writer I am today.《明知我愛你》was written during my days in the course.

If song-writing is your passion, I urge you to join this course. On top of what you’ll learn in class, it will also guide you onto the right track as a song-writer. Not forgetting how fun it is so much so most student alumni I’ve spoken to wished for more after their graduation from the class!

The Melody Composing Course is a must to sign up for if you are an avid songwriter or someone who yearns to write a piece of good music. The course does not set you in like a typical boring lecture hall with big old textbooks, it teaches you the fundamentals of good songwriting with the simplest, easy to understand explanations possible. It also allows you to get in touch with your musical world and let you hands on in writing good pieces of your own music. And of course, one of the many plus points would be the classes are being led by 2 famous Songwriters as dedicated teachers and mentors, Jim Lim and Eric Ng. I had loads of fun and gain tonnes of knowledge as a Singer/Songwriter myself from the Melody Composing course. My only advise is do not miss a single lesson in the course!
